CHALLENGE
After a painstaking renovation, we were approached to reintroduce the legendary hotel to the world and engage a wider audience of travellers, many of whom are discovering Sri Lanka for the first time, and also launch the brand’s landmark ‘Galle Face Expeditions’ programme, a celebration of culture, cuisine and adventure through its premier collection of unique luxury hotels nationwide.

SOLUTION
To champion the property’s iconic status and reinforce its reputation as Colombo’s must-visit luxury hotel at a time when more visitors than ever are looking to experience authentic Sri Lankan hospitality, we developed a content-focused campaign that capitalised on Galle Face’s architectural charm and unique service culture, as well as showcasing the stunning ‘Galle Face Expeditions’ destinations and properties, to emphasise that a trip to 2019’s top global destination wouldn’t be complete without a stay at one of the brand’s hotels.

DELIVERY
To kick off the ongoing campaign, we called on one of the region’s leading lifestyle photographers to capture the decadence and finer details that define Galle Face Hotel, as well as the luxury ‘Galle Face Expeditions’ properties. These images supported key storylines in top global lifestyle media including the unveiling of the impressive refurbishment, appointments of high-profile personnel and launch of exclusive excursions, in addition to arranging individual and group media trips to the destinations.

OUTCOME
Driven by the photography campaign, Galle Face has over the last six months featured prominently in National Geographic Traveller, Elite Traveler, The Times and Vogue China, amongst others, with a combined advertising value of USD820,000 in the first six months.
